Seasons Greetings ideas
Tue. Dec, 2008 by Amy
The holidays are upon us! We all share the common challenge- how to send thanks or holiday greetings to our clients in a meaningful way, or even be noticed in the deluge of season’s greetings. Depending on how unique you would like to be there are a variety of possibilities. Here are a few ideas to think about. This is just the tip of the iceberg, we’d be happy to brainstorm with you for your specific needs.
Personalized company cards will not only stand out from the store bought variety, but have the added benefit of reminding clients of your brand as well. Playful designs using your logo in a holiday way, or a well done photograph of your company will stand out and be noticed. Some of these concepts can have lasting value and be used or built upon each year creating a theme.
If you want to go a step beyond the card, there are other options. We designed a memorable and meaningful package for Peterson Energy Management. Instead of the expensive client gifts they normally send out, they are donating money to give energy to Colorado’s neediest families. To represent that warmth, a simple white candle inserted into a wintry scene conveys the message. Although it is more costly than a card, digital printing and simple materials keep the costs down while making a strong impact.
Then there are the gifts. We used to send out chocolates and food. However, we found that these gifts were disappearing into a mass of similar items in our client’s break rooms. Unless you know their personal tastes, it is hard to send wine or specific items you know will be enjoyed. Our solution to this last year, was having a tree or grove of trees planted and dedicated to each client by Friend’s of Trees. It is local, environmental, and very personal. The recipient receives a very nice illustrated card and invitation to join the planting if desired. People seemed to really appreciate it.
Other gifts that can be given in someone’s name that we like and have used are Mercy Corps, Oregon Food Bank, and WWF. We have sent “adopted” animals to several people. They receive a photo and can name “their” animal. How can one not love getting their own pygmy elephant? For international giving, Mercy Corps has special gift packages that you can choose from, for $25 you can send a children’s food kit for example. On a local level, you can donate to Oregon Food Bank as a tribute gift. Depending on your industry, there is a gift that matches your spirit.
If none of these ideas have inspired you, here is another one that I love and works particularly well if you are running out of time. Send greetings or thanks after the holiday rush. Not only will you have less competition for attention- it is fun for clients to receive a surprise gift or card on Valentine’s Day or another day. It is always great to have the opportunity to say “thank you” and we appreciate your business, no matter what format you use.
By the way, any ideas for teacher’s gifts? We need a bazillion of them…
