GROW is expanding into Wine Country

Tue. Mar, 2009 by Amy

We have given this a lot of thought, and how better can we understand the industry than by actually becoming part of it? Jonathan picked up Winemaking for Dummies and some other books at the library, and I found some land out in Newberg. We got it really cheap, apparently no one has been able to grow grapes there before, but we feel confident we can do it.

No worries about your projects being neglected. We figure we only need to spend a couple of hours a day on running the winery, and the rest we’ll be working on client work for GROW.

We figure we’ll just learn as we go. Since our vines probably won’t be ready this summer (right?), we’ll still have a lot of time to work on design. We plan to get the kids involved since we most likely won’t have any profit right away. They’ve picked blueberries and raspberries before, so we just need to make sure they don’t eat more than they put in the pail like they usually do. How many hours is considered an issue for child labor laws anyway? They are 4 and 6, so we’ll still make sure they go to school in the Fall.

Please let us know if you have any tips or advice for us, or any money you’d like to invest in our venture.

Oh, and…happy April Fool’s Day!
