The Chair Affair

Kristin told us about this great opportunity, so GROW will be designing a chair for this fundraising art auction to benefit the Community Warehouse.

HERE’s the scoop!
Every year artists from around Portland pick up used chairs from the Community Warehouse (or create their own).  They decorate them, paint them, collage on them…. you get the idea.   And then the chairs are auctioned off!  The Chairs are on display in stores and galleries around The Pearl and downtown, including Beppu/Wiarda Gallery, Mario’s, Design Within Reach and Yoshida Fine Art Gallery before the auction so the community can view them.

Proceeds from the live and silent chair auction support the COMMUNITY WAREHOUSE. The Warehouse is the Northwest’s only furniture bank that supplies furnishings and household items at no cost to families in need. Partnering with over 100 social service agencies, the Warehouse helps families improve their quality of life by providing the basic necessities needed to set up a home.

You can see more info about last years event at:  http://www.communitywarehouse.org/chairaffair/index.html

We’ll keep you updated on progress of our chair. First step: Pick it up, hopefully it is still waiting for us. Anyone have a van we can borrow?
